People are busy and it is easy to become tired and overwhelmed. Is mindfulness self-care? Yes, it is. It is a very important part of self-care because when we live in the present, we notice our feelings, emotions and physical needs.

Self-care is not something to do just in your spare time or on vacation. It is a disposition, attitude, or ongoing state of body and mind (Cox & Steiner, 2013). In practicing mindfulness, take time each day to shift from a mode of doing and action to one of pausing and being with whatever is happening right now. Positive affirmations – a practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment – are another simple and effective mindfulness activity you can use absolutely anywhere. They are short and simple phrases that can help you overcome negative, self-sabotaging thoughts and replace them with positive, self-affirming beliefs.
